A Scranton woman has been sentenced to prison for burning down a home in Churdan.

According to Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams, 27-year-old Conner Groves was sentenced to 15 years and two days in state prison, after a jury found her guilty of two Class C Felonies for  first degree fraudulent practices and second degree arson, two Class D Felonies for conspiracy to commit a non-forcible felony and insurance fraud, along with a serious misdemeanor for her first offense for possession of marijuana.

According to court documents, Groves was one of the parties responsible for burning down a home on October 2, 2023 in Churdan. Court documents show that Groves conspired to set the home on fire, as well as falsely reporting to the insurance company that everything she owned was also lost in the fire, when the items were taken out of the home before it was set on fire. During an executed search warrant of Groves’ home in Scranton, marijuana was also found as well as the documents from the insurance company.

Groves also faces a Class C Felony charge for allegedly tampering with a potential juror related to the arson case. She pled not guilty to the charge in April and is awaiting a trial date. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
