With the rising popularity of pickleball in the United States, the Adel Parks and Recreation Department has opened the first couple of them in the community.

Recreation Supervisor Ramona Dillinger says the two inaugural pickleball courts are now open at Evans Park in Adel. She states that the courts are available for people to use anytime between sunrise and sunset. Dillinger expresses that the courts are free to the public for drop-in play, but that people will need to bring their own balls and paddles.

Dillinger illustrates that the creation of the courts was made possible by a $70,000 Legacy Grant from the Adel Lions Club. She mentions that the public is welcome to celebrate with a ribbon cutting that’s taking place tomorrow at 5:30pm.
