The leader of the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Community School District discusses a consulting agreement that is helping students at the elementary level during the current school year.

Superintendent Greg Dufoe tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the school board approved a contract agreement with Upward Trend Literacy Consultant Barb Shutt to provide strategic learning services at Adel and Meadow View Elementary Schools. He outlines that Shutt is a former Area Education Agency employee and was working with the ADM School District doing literacy services, but has since retired.

However, Dufoe details that the school board discovered that she had her own limited license partnership and wanted her to still help with additional services that needed attention.

“We’re really excited to have Barb still be apart of our literacy process, and what she really helps us do is zero in on the students who are having a really difficult time making progress and punching through the difficulties they are experiencing (and) she really helps teachers identify what moves are important next.”

Dufoe says the agreement was put into effect on September 9th and will go through June 1st, 2026.
