The Dallas County Board of Supervisors met in regular session on Tuesday.
The Board agreed with a request from County Attorney Matt Schultz to have designated parking for his office, near their building north of 9th Street in Adel. He explained that there have been delays in cases because he will sometimes park further away from their building, due to those parking spots already being in use.
Next, a workshop was held with Des Moines Area Community College for an expansion at their Dallas County Farm location in Adel. DMACC’s AgriBusiness Co-Chair Travis Lautner requested the possibility of adding some extra office space to the farm building because the current office area includes classrooms, giving instructors limited room to operate in a private area. Supervisor Kim Chapman said the farm building is county-owned and as per Iowa State Code, a licensed engineer or architect would need to be part of the project. The Board unanimously agreed to move forward, and will be in contact with DMACC on the best course of action.
The only action items on the agenda that were approved included a resolution to appoint Brian Van Heuverswyn to the Fox Creek Benefited Water District for a term ending on December 31st, 2027 and a resolution to appoint 17 members to the Iowa State Association of Counties.
