With the fall season officially here, Greene County Public Health now has its newest stock of an important vaccine to keep people healthy during the colder months.

Greene County Public Health Director Shelby Cooklin encourages anyone who would like a flu shot to contact their office to get one. She points out that the flu vaccine is important for safeguarding everyone’s health and preventing the spread of certain diseases. She urges those individuals who are six months and older to get a flu shot, especially people who are at higher risk for complications, such as people 65 and older, children under five years old, pregnant women, individuals with chronic health conditions, those who are immunocompromised, and healthcare workers.

Cooklin says Greene County Public Health is also conducting flu clinics in their office on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10am-noon and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1-3pm. She adds that a drive-thru flu clinic will be held on October 15th at the Greene County Fairgrounds from 3-6:30pm. Flu shots are also available at the Greene County Family Medicine Clinic.
