The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday morning.

The Board approved a payroll change notice for Dana Tews for a position change within the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office, then heard from Ron Woods about his interest in purchasing a County-owned parcel of land. He owns the ground around the parcel, and in recent years runoff has been more noticeable from the county parcel into his pond. Woods proposed to turn the nine acre area into a pasture if he could purchase the land. The Board said they would need to notify the tenant farming the parcel and asked Woods to put together a proposal to send to the Board. No action was taken.

The Board then heard from County Engineer Josh Sebern on the County Road P28 project. He shared that after going over the different plans that he and his department had come up with, he believed that there were three viable options when considering the $8.27 million in available bond money that will be the main source of funding for the project.

The first option is to keep the road at the current 22 foot width, and resurface the road from Stuart north to 252nd Street, for approximately $7.8 million. The second option is to work from Stuart north to Monteith Road without widening the shoulders for $6.8 million, and the final option would be the same distance, but widening the road for a projected cost of $7.9 million. Sebern added that another option he has thought about and talked with other engineers on would be to widen the shoulders of the road only on the curves of P28, leaving the straight-aways at 22 feet. No action was taken, pending three Supervisors doing a ride-along with Sebern on Monday to check out problem areas along P28.
