mural-on-side-of-museum

A professional artist is continuing his love of painting with his first public artwork starting to be on display in Jefferson.

Chad Elliott, co-owner of Elliott Art Studio, is partnering with the Greene County Historical Society to hand paint murals on the west and east sides of the historical museum on East Lincoln Way, near the downtown square in Jefferson. Historical Society Co-Executive Director Mike Piepel says this is a welcomed addition to the exterior of the building, as he hints at the theme of the paintings.

“That’s wonderful for the museum because we’re located on the historical, old 30 Highway. And people will be able to see when they drive in from the east or drive in from the west, since we’ll have the two murals: one on the east side and one on the west side. And it’ll add a whole new dimension to the Greene County Historical Museum and the Historical Society.”

Piepel describes the Board’s reaction when Elliott agreed to help out.

“Everybody on the Board is happy to hear that and what a wonderful artist, what a wonderful individual to have working with us and designing for us.”

Elliott says he likes the designs that they agreed upon with the Historical Society Board. Funding for the murals was part of a Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation Grant that was awarded to Jefferson Matters Tower View Team for its multiple community mural project.
