Recently the Dream Acres Housing Subdivision in Panora received $199,999 in housing tax credit from the Iowa Economic Development Authority.
Panora Mayor Curt Thornberry says that this is wonderful news for the community, as it means that Origin Homes, the developer for the subdivision, can begin work on five new homes. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that he’s looking forward to what Origin Homes will do.
“I’m really excited about the product that they bring to market. They’ve got a really good kind of reputation in terms of being able to build in rural communities. I really do think that this is a great opportunity for our community. We don’t get these very often. It’s been a long road. If you think about the development of this subdivision, I think that this has probably been a 10-year project over the years in terms of planning, engineering, construction, and now finally getting the houses.”
Thornberry mentions that there are already two single family homes in the subdivision, so being able to add more is great. He adds that getting the housing tax credits also allows Origin Homes to sell the houses they develop at an affordable price, meaning that it will be easier to draw young families to the area.
