A prominent figure in Perry was recently recognized for his achievements in the community.

City Administrator Sven Peterson was honored with the Manager of the Year Award from the Iowa City/County Management Association at the Iowa League of Cities Annual Conference and Exhibit in Des Moines on September 18th. The recognition claimed that Peterson has done a tremendous job to provide accessible resources to families and businesses, even in hard times. Perry Mayor Dirk Cavanaugh was in attendance and was pleasantly surprised.

“I was at the conference, but didn’t know that it was going to happen, so it’s exciting. Sven’s led us through a lot of interesting times and helped get a lot of things done around the community, so we’re very happy that was able to be honored.”

Peterson grew up in Perry and is a Bluejay graduate, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Community and Regional Planning from Iowa State University and his Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Drake University. He has been the City Admin since 2015.
