
The Guthrie Center City Council met in regular session Monday night.
The Council approved the resignation of Marcia Priestly from the Mary J Barnett Memorial Library Board, and appointed Brandon Monaghan to fill the position. During discussions with Hometown Insurance Agent Rod Rumelhart where he shared about negotiating for a lower rate for the city due to the low amount of claims in the last year. The Council approved renewing coverage with EMC Insurance for the 2025-26 year.
The Council also approved an extension on the deadline for nuisance abatement and junk clean up at a property, 301 Main Street, to October 6th to allow the property owners time to build their accessory building to store much of the items listed in the nuisance violation. City Clerk Kris Arrasmith then gave an update, sharing that after a workman’s compensation audit, the city received a premium rebate of $5,155, in part due to field employees maintaining excellent safety levels in day to day operations.
