There is a new structure going up on the north side of the city of Jefferson.

Greene County Development Corporation Executive Director Greg Piklapp says a new car wash is being built in the West Business Park on American Avenue. Piklapp gives an update on the other development in the East Business Park with another new business, which is for start-up companies that can lease an office space. 

“But we’re finalizing those drainage bills, construction bills, (and) roadway bills. That project is foundations are poured, roadways are getting finalized to it too. The East Business Park is going to be an incubator, great business project option, right along the Highway 30 corridor.”  

GCDC President Scott Weber adds that the owner of the business incubator has plans to expand, with purchasing three additional lots in the East Business Park, there are still more lots that other commercial entities can buy for future development.

“We’ve got some more lots to the south, but then we also have another portion there that’s quite a few acres that has not been plotted out. And so, when we get to a point where this continues to expand, at some point we’ll have to sit down and look at plotting all that out and doing a different route on that.”

Weber says it has been enjoyable watching more companies look toward US Highway 30 to make a presence for themselves in the county.
