The deadline to pay property taxes is coming up at the end of this month.

Greene County Treasurer Katlynn Mechaelsen says the first half of property taxes are due on or before Tuesday, September 30th to avoid paying a 1.5-percent monthly penalty that starts the following day. She points out there are several ways that property owners can pay their taxes, including by cash, check, credit cards, or Apple pay to her office Monday through Friday from 8am-4:30pm in the Greene County Courthouse or via the drop box on the east side of the building. Mechaelsen reminds property owners to make sure to include their tax stub to ensure proper credit.

Additionally, people can pay property taxes online at iowatreaurers.org or through your bank’s escrow account.
