The Perry Parks and Recreation Department will be celebrating a new addition to Pattee Park tomorrow.

According to Assistant Recreation Director Becky Halling, a brand new mini-pitch court is officially opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony. She says the project was a collaboration between the Parks and Rec Department, Musco Lighting, and Heart of America. Halling explains the organization chose to go with a double pitch court that will feature both basketball and soccer, because the goal was to provide as much space as possible for participants. She is excited to bring this structure to the community.

“Obviously, as a Parks and Rec kid, we’re all about free-play and experiences, and providing experiences to kids. And it’s such a beautiful park for us and we’re super excited to just be able to provide a place for kids to go and play and be kids. And just community development, whether activities are happening during Friday Fest, or 4th of July, or maybe Marco (Perla) putting together some tournaments down there, so we’re super excited about this.”

Halling outlines the ribbon cutting is open to the public and is taking place tomorrow at 10am at Pattee Park by the bandshell. She adds that afterwards, free three on three basketball and soccer tournaments will be happening at 11am. To register, click here.
