On Friday, the homecoming match up at Dallas Center-Grimes High School between the Mustang football team and the Waukee Warriors would go down to the wire, but DCG would score and secure the two point conversion to secure a 29-28 victory in the final minute of the game.

Waukee would start song and constantly have DCG behind them in the beginning of this contest. Down 7-0 to start the second quarter, Chase Engel would find Wyatt Valenta in the end zone to tie the game up for halftime. Coming back from the halftime break, Engel would find Valenta again, to bring the score to 14-7 in favor of DCG. The Mustang defense would begin to struggle, allowing Waukee to take a 28-21 lead with only five minutes left in the fourth quarter. DCG’s offense would trot down field in the final minutes, with Ozborn Grimm rushing in for a touchdown to bring the score to 28-27. Down by one, with 50 seconds left, Engel would find Valenta for one final time in the end zone to secure a 29-28 homecoming victory.

DCG advances to 4-1 and now prepare for a long journey to Waterloo on Friday to face off against the Waterloo West Wahawks.
