The West Central Valley School Board approved the renewal of their participation with the Instructional Support Levy in their September meeting.

Superintendent Rusty Shockley says that the Board held a public hearing on the topic during the meeting to discuss how things have been going, what may change, and more on what members thought were on continuing with the levy. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio how the levy works for the district.

“Ours is split between property tax and an income tax surtax. So it takes a little bit of the burden off of property taxes for those that own property within our district. So every five years we have to approve that.”

Shockley shares that using the levy this way has allowed the district to take on some larger projects when needed.
