Adel-DeSoto-Minburn junior Makenna Pitlick discusses the uniqueness of facing off versus her Tiger Softball teammates during the fall travel league.
Pitlick is currently playing volleyball with ADM, but is still practicing her softball skills on the side in the Iowa 16U League, playing for the Iowa Gold Mathews. She reveals that she discovered the league through her Tiger teammate Elliotte Von Roden, who also plays for the Gold Mathews. Several other ADM Softball players participate in the travel league on opposing teams, including Lauren Hagedorn, Ellis Smith, Peyton Herrick, and Addison Siedelmann. Pitlick indicates that it offers a nice competitive perspective.
“At first it’s funny just playing against my previous teammates because we know each other’s weaknesses, so it’s like we’re kind of at a disadvantage, but it’s really great because we’re able to push each other because starting in April, we’re all working for the same common goal to get sixth time back at (the) state (tournament). So it’s great playing against them, and I love seeing my teammates outside of (the) school season.”
For the Tigers, Pitlick plays at the pitcher and first base position, where in the 2025 season, she appeared in all 38 games, scoring 13 runs off 28 hits, featuring 9 home runs. As a pitcher, she finished with a 15-4 record, accumulating 64 strikeouts.
