Friday night will be a special performance at the Warren Cultural Center.
According to the Center, they are hosting Drew Gabbert, who will be performing a Bob Dylan tribute. Gabbert tells Raccoon Valley Radio why he chose to start a tribute show for the legendary musician.
“I was influenced early on from my father at a young age to play Dylan songs. Then about two or three years ago, I got serious about doing the Dylan tribute and that’s when we went full time with it. We’ve played almost a hundred shows now in the last two years, across 40 states and recently played in Ireland, technically going international now.”
Gabbert mentions that his preparation and work to get the show started included memorizing several of Dylan’s songs, sharing that he knows over 50 songs by heart, that way he can provide a true, immersive performance without the use of aids for lyrics. He adds that over the course of a two hour set, he’ll sing 25-30 songs, with popular requests being “Like a Rolling Stone,” “Times are Changing,” and “Lay Lady Lay.”
The performance begins at 7pm on Friday. Tickets are $25 for adults with free admission for students high school aged and younger. Tickets are available at the WCC’s website, or at the door.
