The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Football Team is ranked within the top five for Class 4A Iowa High Schools, heading into week number six.

The latest rankings have Xavier at number one, Pella is second, North Polk is third, and ADM is fourth, followed by Newton at fifth. The Tigers are 4-1 through five games, with wins over Winterset, Ballard, Bondurant-Farrar, and Boone, while their only loss is to the Comets of North Polk. ADM Head Coach Doug Winkowitsch identifies that a key to the great start is the Tiger’s defense, which has 8 fumble recoveries and 4 interceptions on the year.

“I think the last couple of weeks, we’ve done a great job technique wise to make sure that ‘you’re doing your job the very best you can,’ and I think it’s really starting to pay off. We’re not giving up the big plays, which has been one of our things that we’ve tried to focus on, and when you’re there, we got to make the tackling, get a lot of guys on them, so really happy with controlling the line of scrimmage and doing a great job of trying to stop the run first. I think the kids have really bought into that and have done a great job.”

The Tigers are also 1-0 in district play, with a big win (42-7) over Boone this past Friday. ADM prepares for their second district game this Friday, as they travel to Council Bluffs to battle Thomas Jefferson at 7pm. Raccoon Valley Radio will carry the broadcast on K107.9 KKRF.
