October has just gotten started, and a national observance begins next week.

Guthrie County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Youth Coordinator Rachel Muir says that the first full week of October is National 4-H Week. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that as part of that, they will be holding an event on Wednesday night.

“We’re doing a little event that night down at the education center at the fairgrounds and it’s kind of like a 4-H find out night so you can come down there and it’s open for everyone in the community, the public, wanting to know more about 4-H or Clover Kids. And we’ll have all the club booths down there along with the Clover Kids booth and then just some interactive fun stuff along with food.”

Muir mentions this is part of the Youth Committee meeting, and will begin at 7pm. She adds that each day is themed for next week, and a list of those themes can be found below.

Monday: Memory Monday – share favorite 4-H or fair memory (Guthrie Co ISU Ext will have a Facebook post for individuals to share their memories on)

Tuesday: T-shirt Tuesday – Wear your favorite 4-H Club or Guthrie County Fair shirt

Wednesday: Welcoming Wednesday – Tell a friend about 4-H

Thursday: Thank You Thursday – Write a thank you to a sponsor or mentor
