The Perry Community School District is asking for the public’s help to bring in any unused instruments.
According to High School Band Director Blaine Schmidt, the institution is doing an “Instrument Drive” as a way to help grow enrollment for the 6th to 12th grade band at Perry. He emphasizes that the school is collecting instruments that are in good condition and are looking for as many as they can get. Schmidt says that the current inventory is stretched pretty thin and the instrument drive will hopefully allow staff to give them a new home.
Schmidt describes that donating the instruments is a great way for someone in the community to support the program, and that it can give a student a school-owned instrument for those that can’t afford them on their own. Schmidt adds that the school is also working to purchase new instruments through different sources of funding, and the goal of the drive is to boost their inventory. He concludes that people can drop off instruments at any of the Perry Schools Offices or the Perry Public Library now until Friday, October 10th.
