A restaurant in the Redfield community has been selected for a statewide competition.

According to the Iowa Pork Producers Association, Dexfield Diner and Pub was named a finalist for Iowa’s Best Breaded Pork Tenderloin Contest. The organization states that eligible restaurants must serve hand-breaded or hand-battered pork tenderloins year-round and are evaluated on taste and quality, physical characteristics, presentation, and experience. The IPPA notes that the winning restaurant receives $500, a plaque, and a banner, while the runner-up is awarded $250 and a plaque, with the other nominees getting commemorative plaques.

The other finalists include “The 1854” from Gilbertville, “Hometown Heroes” in Grinnell, “Sugar’s Lounge and Diner” in Council Bluffs, and “Walker’s” in Salix. The IPPA will declare a winner in mid-October during the “Porktober Celebration”.
