The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Football Team will head to western Iowa tonight for their second district game, taking on an unfamiliar opponent in Council Bluffs Jefferson (CBJ).

The Tigers are 4-1 through five games, with wins over Winterset, Ballard, Bondurant-Farrar, and Boone, as the only loss is to North Polk; while the Yellow Jackets are 3-2, with victories over Sioux City West, Storm Lake, and Denison-Schleswig, then losses to Sergeant Bluff-Luton, and Council Bluffs Lincoln.

At the Quarterback position, ADM senior Hudson Shull is 49/66 in pass completions with 793 yards and 9 touchdowns, as he’s added another 473 rushing yards and 9 TDs with his legs. On the other side for CBJ, senior QB Jayden Fujii is 76/120 passing with 919 yards and 9 TDs, while also running for 203 yards on the ground, punching it in three times. Tiger Head Coach Doug Winkowitsch knows it’s a long road trip for ADM, but wants the guys to remain relaxed ahead of the game.

“Honestly, I like squirrely. I think our thing is just to be loose and have fun. The key is that you have to be able to flip the switch. I mean I want them loose, want them to have fun, but I also want that quiet focus, so I think the kids have done a really good job of that. One of the things that I really tried to stress last year is I can get them all fired up in the locker room, but really the bottom line is once you step onto the field, it’s all about ‘are you in control of your emotions, do you feel prepared and confident?’ So, I want them to be loose and enjoy the moment, but be super focused and mindful during the game.”

This will be the first time that ADM and CBJ match up against each other, as the game will kick off from the Gale Wickersham Athletic Complex in Council Bluffs tonight at 7pm. Raccoon Valley Radio will carry the broadcast on K107.9 KKRF, starting with pregame coverage at 6pm.
