Greene County ISU Extension is celebrating National 4-H Week.
Extension 4-H and Youth Coordinator Samantha Hardaway says next week will kick-off with Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) stations at the Churdan Public Library from 1-4pm for ages 4-10, with all activities geared toward pumpkin exploration. She notes that the STEM project is free and no pre-registration is required.
Hardaway points out that from Wednesday through Friday will be the sewing workshop for kids and adults as they will be making quilts. On Thursday, Hardaway says youth in grades first through third will be doing a Career Exploration Camp, where there are no more spots available. She states that each day next week there will also be enrollment assistance to either sign up new 4-H’ers or Clover Kid participants. She describes her favorite part about National 4-H Week.
“Probably the biggest part of National 4-H Week is our Social Media Challenge. So be sure to check out our social media, we’ll be having challenges each day, as well as participating in the ‘Beyond Ready Initiative’ by National 4-H of where you were when you were in 4-H, and your experience, and where we are now. So, we invite you to check out our social media and fill out the forms so we can feature a community member of where they are and where they are now.”
