Guthrie County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach will be participating in a Community Baby Shower hosted by the First Christian Church in Guthrie Center.

Program Director Shelby Van Horn says that they will be attending the October 14th event, and tells Raccoon Valley Radio what they will do while they are there.

“Extension has a wide variety of programs. One of the big things that Extension has been doing is a Science of Parenting course. And there’s a lot of them coming up online through Zoom. But it really talks about all the different techniques and different challenges that you face while parenting and raising children.”

Van Horn mentions that another program that the Extension provides goes over reading strategies. She adds that the event will take place from 5-6:30pm at the First Christian Church, and is open to Guthrie County prenatal families, and children from newborn to a year old.
