The leader for the City of Adel discusses a design study the council is currently working on for Meadow Road.

Mayor Jim Peters tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the road is gravel, and travels towards the Adel Aquatic Center and the city’s water tower. He says that the road is heavily utilized by drivers and it is a main area of emphasis for the city to restructure it. However, Peters points out an obstacle that the city was running into, but is now making headway.

“The south side of the road is not within city limits. We don’t have jurisdiction over those property owners. However, that property has sold now, and there’s a new owner who’s interested in coming into the city. And, in doing so, that would put Meadow Road completely in the jurisdiction of the City of Adel, and would give us an opportunity to improve that.”

Peters confirms that the city has partnered with McClure Engineering to conduct a case study to determine the needs of the road itself, the width, curb and gutter, plus any storm or sewer improvement ideas. He concludes that McClure Engineering should have a concept outlined by the City of Adel’s December 9th meeting.
