Any 1st through 6th grade boy in Jefferson that wants to learn about or improve their skills of a winter sport are invited to join a two-day program.
Jefferson Parks and Recreation Assistant Director Henry Pohlmeyer says the Boys Basketball Camp will be held on October 21st and 23rd, with the 1st and 2nd graders from 5-6:15pm and the 3rd-6th graders from 6:30-7:45pm at the Greene County Community Center. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the varsity head coach for the Greene County High School Basketball Team Chris Nelson and some of the players will lead this program.
Pohlmeyer notes that the registration fees are $25 for community center members and $30 for non-members, which includes some apparel.
“We do get t-shirts (and) those are supplied by ShineOn(Designs/More Time) who we usually go to for a lot of different stuff. And the deadline is October 10th. So still have a little bit of time, but that is kind of approaching quickly. It’s a lot to schedule on our end, so we do ask for a little bit of grace period, especially for those t-shirts.”
Pohlmeyer adds that there is also a basketball league with neighboring schools and communities for 3rd-6th grade players only as well. Contact the community center at 515-386-3412 or click here to sign up.
