The Perry Chamber of Commerce welcomed a new business as a member with a ceremonial event on Tuesday.

The chamber held a ribbon cutting ceremony for Century Farms Books and Brews, as Owner Paullina Mills acknowledges that she bought the building, located at 1018 2nd Street, which was empty, meaning everything was designed from the ground up, then officially opened this past June. She points out that the store has a collection of older and newer books, plus a “Bluejay Book Cart,” which are used books.

In addition to the books, Mills outlines the organization serves drinks of wines, beers, craft cocktails, pop, teas, and lemonade. There is a mural of books inside the store, and Mills reveals what drew her inspiration.

“I saw a TikTok of a lady that paints really cool bookshelf paintings, and I sent it to my best friend who is an artist, and I was like ‘How do you feel about doing something like this on a bigger scale.”

Mills concludes that Century Farms Books and Brews is open Wednesdays through Sundays from 9am-7pm.
