National 4-H Week is October 5th-11th, and the Dallas County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Office celebrated with a Day of Giving event.
ISU Extension Marketing Manager Sarah Wood tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the 4-H Day of Giving event spans over 24 hours and is designed to give 4-H counties an opportunity to promote the lifelong impact the organization serves. She explains the day allows 4-H supporters a chance to raise money to help more youth learn about agriculture. She emphasizes that 4-H plays a vital role within Dallas County.
“Our staff and our volunteers are consistently teaching our 4-H youth every day to be their best selves. And whether that is through hands-on learning experiences and the different camps and programs that they can do through 4-H, (or) being apart of a club. They can learn leadership skills, build friendships, build confidence, and there’s just a lot of different ways that we try to make sure children feel a sense of belonging, and learn those positive relationships between adults and the youth, and what that looks like.”
Even though the Day of Giving is over, Wood expresses that people who would still like to donate to the Dallas County 4-H Foundation, can make monetary contributions on their website. The link to do that can be found here.
