Following some issues with a road in Guthrie County, a plan has been initialized to improve the conditions of the roadway.
Guthrie County Engineer Josh Sebern says following a recent County Board of Supervisors meeting where they approved the plan for County Road P-28, the initial phase will be road work from Stuart north to Monteith Road, using available funds from bond money that the county has., Then, the next phase would be from Monteith Road north to Panora using maintenance and other funds. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio what the next steps are now that the plan has been decided on.
“Now that we know we’re going to focus on the south part, we already started surveying some folks may have seen some surveyors out there. That was the very first preliminary step. And I believe that’s done and now we’re going to design as we’ll do some plans and prepare all the documents.”
Sebern mentions the county will do the bid letting through the Iowa Department of Transportation in January or February of 2026. He adds that this means that work will begin during the 2026 construction season.
