A Menlo woman was arrested following an investigation of making an alleged threat to a school district.
According to the Stuart Police Department, 55-year-old Terri Arthur of Menlo was arrested on October 10th by the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office, charged with a Class D Felony for false reports to public entity and a simple misdemeanor for third degree harassment.
The police department says the charges stem from a report that a West Central Valley School District employee received a phone call on October 7th after school from Arthur that allegedly made a threat of terrorism toward the school. Following the investigation, Stuart Police say there was no credible threat found and that Arthur may have intended to falsely implicate another person. Police Chief Dave Reha says the false report caused unnecessary alarm among school staff and undo stress to the individual who was wrongfully accused.
Arthur was booked into the Guthrie County Jail where she remains held without bond until her initial appearance. Court documents show there is also a no contact order against Arthur and the individuals involved.
Chief Reha says the Stuart Police Department maintains a strong relationship with the West Central Valley School District and shares a common commitment to the safety of the students and staff. He appreciates the promptness and professionalism with the school while the initial investigation was underway. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
