Greene County hosted Atlantic last night at Linduska Field in Jefferson in Class 3A District 6 high school football. The contest was heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com with the Trojans handing the Rams a 46-7  loss on Senior Night. Atlantic improves to 3-0 in the district and 5-2 overall while the Rams fell to 1-2 in district play and 4-3 on the season.

Ethan McNeal had a monster night running the football for the Trojans, as did the entire Atlantic team. McNeal, a junior, ran for 254 yards on 19 carries and he scored four touchdowns on runs of 12, 5, 71, and 25 yards. Sophomore Zander Killion ran into the end zone twice from 7 and 14 yards, and lineman Donovan Hedrington return an onside kick 65 yards for a TD. The Trojans had 452 rushing yards on 25 carries while passing the ball just twice, completing one for 17 yards for a 469 yard night of total offense.

The only Greene County touchdown came early int he fourth quarter on a 22 yard pass from junior quarterback Zack Stalder to junior receiver Lincoln Schwander. Senior Teagan Chisholm kicked the extra point. Senior Christopher Daugherty ran for 104 yards on 12 carries and Stalder had 64 rushing yards on 17 attempts. The Rams totaled 322 yards of offense with 183 rushing yards and 129 through the air on 11-31-1 passing. Junior Jaron Jacobs had 40 receiving yards on three catches. The Rams turned the ball over three times to just one for the Trojans.

Greene County goes on the road for its last two regular season games and both are District 6 contests. Up first is a trip to Creston on Oct. 17, then the regular season ends at Merrill Field in Harlan vs. Harlan Community on Oct. 24. The Panthers are 0-7 after losing at Carroll 50-0 last night and the Cyclones are 3-4. All Greene County football games can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
