The Guthrie County Food Pantry in Guthrie Center is accepting donations of food items.

New Opportunities Family Development Coordinator for Guthrie County Rhonda Huggins says that the pantry she oversees is used quite a bit. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio some of the items they could use.

“We’ll take meat. We have freezers, we have refrigerators. We can keep produce fresh. um And we will gladly take meat donations from Guthrie County Quality Meat. We’ve had stuff come in from there where people have, like one person donated a hog and a couple other people paid for the processing. We’ll take farm fresh eggs. We will take your produce out of your garden right now. We are not picky about what we take. We do ask that it’s fresh, and then we keep it as fresh as we can.”

Huggins mentions that items don’t last long at the pantry. She adds that for those who would like to donate, they can contact her at the New Opportunities office in Guthrie Center City Hall.
