Greene County and Roland-Story played Heart of Iowa Activities Conference volleyball on Monday night in Story City. The Norsemen, ranked number 12 in Class 3A by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union, won in three sets by scores of 25-19, 25-7, 25-22 to improve to 27-7 overall and they finished unbeaten at 8-0 in the conference to win it outright. The Rams are 14-10 on the season and 5-2 in the league.

Head coach Chris Heisterkamp reports sophomore Hanna Fouch had five kills with four from senior Lila Osterson and junior Makenna Ebersole. Senior Calleigh Fitzpatrick had three kills with two from senior Natalee Baugh and one for sophomore Ashlynn Ball.

The coach pointed to passing being subpar. “Our passing was very poor tonight, which meant our offense struggled. We didn’t look like ourselves until the third set. It’s disappointing, but we’ll find a way to use it as motivation to prepare for another tough one against PCM.” Greene County lost for just the second time in its last 10 matches.

The Rams play at PCM in Monroe on Thursday to complete the conference slate, then the regular season ends on Saturday for the Rams at the Winterset Invitational. The Class 3A postseason for the Rams begins on Tuesday, Oct. 21 in Jefferson at 7 p.m. vs. Des Moines Christian in a Region 6 quarterfinal.
