The Dallas County Board of Supervisors met in regular session on Tuesday.

The Board agreed to move forward with a request for proposals to add a County Public Information Representative. Supervisor Chair Kim Chapman stated that with the growth of Dallas County, he thought it will be beneficial to hire a County Public Information Representative to keep residents informed with updates about county projects as well as communicating with Dallas County Department heads.

Next, Supervisor Chair Chapman continued a conversation from previous meetings relating to possibly renovating the former Engineers Building at 415 River Street, in Adel to provide a new space for the Dallas County Emergency Medical Services. He felt the best course of action was to renovate the structure, but use it for county events, and suggested creating a new structure for the EMS on the south side of the Raccoon River Valley Trail in Adel. Chapman outlined that if the new building is made, then he would like to sell the current EMS building on Nile Kinnick Drive South. He noted that the board would work with Farnsworth Group for the concept design. After lengthy discussion, Farnsworth Group Architect Principal Kristofer Orth will draft an amendment to present to the board and will debut it at a later meeting.

Other items that were approved included an Evidence Storage and Firing Range groundbreaking event for this coming Tuesday, October 21st at 10:30am, a Xenia Rural Water central site upgraded service agreement and a B Avenue Bridge bid letting with the Secondary Roads Department. They also approved a resolution on a final plat for a subdivision in Spring Valley Township belonging to Jon Jamison, and a resolution to rezone an agricultural property in Adel Township in the name of Brett and Kathryn Jones.

The board adjourned the supervisors meeting and entered into a drainage district trustees meeting.
