The period for individuals to apply for Medicare Open Enrollment is now through December 7th and Greene County Medical Center has some assistance for those who need it.
According to the medical center, qualified counselors with the Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) are on site at the medical center Tuesdays from 9am-2:30pm, Wednesdays from 9:30am-3:30pm and Thursdays from 9am-4pm. The medical center says these counselors are able to provide unbiased information about available health insurance plans, answer any questions and help with finding a plan that fits an individual’s medical needs. To schedule an appointment, contact the medical center at 515-386-2114.
The medical center says there are additional resources for people to use as well, including the 24-hour Medicare hotline at 1-800-633-4227 to help understand letters or notices that came in the mail, and a Plan Finder Tool on the website, medicare.gov.
