Two athletes from the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Girls Cross Country Team will be featured on the Raccoon Valley Bank Dallas County PM Sports Magazine tonight on Raccoon Valley Radio.

ADM seniors Alaina Nelson and Ella Popp are currently training for the state qualifying meet happening on Wednesday in Pella. The Tigers are coming off a 4th place finish at the Raccoon River Conference Meet in Bondurant this past Monday, October 13th. Nelson ran a personal best of 21 minutes and 30 seconds, and is happy that she’s been injury-free after dealing with lingering pain the past number of years.

“I’m really surprised that I’m uninjured. It’s very shocking to me, but I’m glad. I prayed a lot and just did all the steps necessary to prevent any injuries, but it’s still great to be here with the team and just experience running as a senior in cross country.”

Popp played volleyball for the past few years, and decided to join cross country this year, after running the Adel Sweet Corn Festival and really liking it. She ran a 21:10 at the conference meet and elaborates on what made her fall even more in love with it.

“Definitely the team, I think everyone is really close, and since we do so many hard workouts, we like to call it trauma bonding, so we’re all very close (and) can tell each other everything. I think I’ve made a lot of great friendships just to take on with me to college.”

The full interviews with Nelson and Popp can be heard tonight on the Raccoon Valley Bank Dallas County PM Sports Magazine on KDLS 94.3/99.7 FM and AM 1310, starting at 6pm.
