The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office is getting a brand new facility within the next year, and a kick-off event is happening tomorrow.

According to Sheriff Adam Infante, there will be a groundbreaking ceremony tomorrow for the new Firearms Training Center as well as the Evidence Storage Building in Adel. He details the Firearms Training Center will add up to 11,868 square feet and include 12 50-yard lanes to allow for weapon training for multiple law enforcement agencies. Infante says the facility will be an indoor complex and will feature a defensive tactics room, a munitions storage area, and a space for virtual reality simulation training, as he reveals the advantages it will give law enforcement.

“The biggest benefit that this building will have will be the combination of use between us and our metro(politan) partners. Very rarely do we respond to one of these incidents by ourselves. So it’s important that we train together, that we’re on the same page, and this facility will allow us to do that.”

Infante points out that the Evidence Storage Building will be connected to the Firearms Training Center, and will give law enforcement a space for secure evidence management. He emphasizes that the building will have a secure, fenced, and access-controlled impound lot for storage for large or long-term items, such as vehicles. The groundbreaking is open to the public and is taking place tomorrow at 10:30am at the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, 28985 Thin Blue Line Lane, in Adel.
