The lights will shine a little brighter Friday night at Dewey Field as Perry High School celebrates Senior Night during its final regular season home game.  The Bluejays will host the Creston Panthers in a Week 9 matchup, with kickoff set for 7 p.m.  KDLS will provide pregame coverage starting at 6 p.m.

Perry (0-8) is still searching for its first win of the season after a difficult 63-7 road loss to Carroll last week.  Creston (1-7) enters with some momentum following a 42-35 victory over Greene County.  The Panthers defeated the Bluejays 70-13 in last year’s season finale.

While the record may not reflect it, Creston poses a tough challenge thanks to junior quarterback Tanner Ray.  A true dual threat, Ray has thrown for 1,463 yards and added another 761 on the ground this season.  His dynamic playmaking will test a Perry defense that has struggled to contain opposing run games, including surrendering 345 rushing yards to Carroll in Week 8.  Sophomore, Michael Bahtagic led Perry with 6.5 tackles in that contest.

Injuries have plagued the Bluejays in recent weeks.  Two-way junior starter Nadir Ouahbi exited early against Carroll, and fellow junior Owen Zander has missed the last two games with a knee injury.  Their availability could be crucial if Perry hopes to slow down Creston’s offense and close the season on a high note.

Friday will be more than just a game for the Perry community, as seniors from football, band, cross country, swimming, and cheerleading will be honored.  Emotions will run high as these student-athletes are recognized for their dedication and contributions.

Tune in to 1310 AM KDLS or the KDLS livestream for full coverage starting at 6 p.m., as Perry looks to make Senior Night one to remember.
