The Stuart People Active for Library Service (PALS) will be hosting their second speaker of the month on Saturday.

 

PALS member Kathy Johnson says that this second speaker is Iowa Barn Foundation Magazine Editor and Photographer Dave Austin. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio about what he and the magazine do.

 

“The great thing they do is they work together to get the stories behind the barns and get those written down and preserved. Otherwise, you know, if you don’t remember, the story goes away. People who worked hard or funny things that happen that really endear you to that barn might be lost in the shuffle.”

 

Johnson mentions that Austin has even photographed the barn of the father of one of the PALS members, who will be bringing a model replica of the barn for Saturday’s presentation. The event is free and open to the public, and will begin at 10am.
