The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office held a groundbreaking event on Tuesday in Adel to signify the start of construction for their new Firearms Training Center and Evidence Storage Facility.

According to Turner Construction Project Manager Chad Lane, the work is a collaborative effort between Farnsworth Group, Turner Construction, and the sheriff’s office. Sheriff Adam Infante thanked the Dallas County Supervisors and residents for their support on the project, as he names positive aspects of the facility.

“Our community will benefit from this because we don’t really have an indoor shooting range. We have an outdoor range that we partner with Perry on, but because of all the projects they have up there, it’s hard to schedule. And it would just be a lot more efficient, and I want it better for everybody.”

Infante outlines that the Firearms Training Center will be close to 12,000 square feet and include 12 50-yard lanes for law enforcement to use for practice. In addition, he points out that the Evidence Storage Facility, attached to the Training Center, will provide another 5,200 square feet of space to house and secure evidence management or even vehicles. Infante concludes that work will go through the first half of next year and plan to be fully operational sometime in late summer or early fall of 2026.
