Dan Vanwinkle, Panora was driving on I80 near the 102 mile marker when another vehicle driven by Lacey Bensley, Redfield, passed Mr. Vanwinkle and attempted to pull to the shoulder because of  a mechanical issue.  Once on the shoulder, an explosion occurred at the back of the vehicle causing Mr. Vanwinkle to lose control and strike Ms. Bensley’s vehicle.  Both drivers work for an auto auction company and were transporting the cars for sale.  No injuries were reported and damage to both vehicles was estimated at $10000 each. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

Jared Zimmerman, age 43, address unknown, was arrested on a warrant for Failure To Appear.  The original charge was Violation Of Probation.

Harley Sales, age 20, 1715 W. De Voe St, Creston, was arrested on a warrant for Failure To Appear.  The original charge was Failure To Stop In Assured Clear Distance.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation, the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
