Friday morning a bomb threat was directed at Adair – Casey / Guthrie Center through the Adair – Casey Elementary and AC/GC Junior High School building.
Superintendent Josh Rasmussen says that they were made aware of a digital voicemail making the threat, and immediately began working with the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office. He mentions that during the investigation, they worked with the Iowa School Safety Bureau and Federal Bureau of Investigation, and learned that this threat has been made in other schools across the state and nation. Rasmussen explains that based on that information and the investigation, it was determined that the threat held no legitimacy or credibility.
Rasmussen shares that the district is running a normal schedule for the remainder of the day, with additional precautions and supervision at all of the district’s campuses as they continue to work with local, state and federal law enforcement to ensure the safety of students and staff. He adds that the district knows that this kind of news can be concerning, but that the safety of all students and staff is their top priority.
Raccoon Valley Radio will bring more information as it becomes official.
