The Perry Police Department is debuting a brand new fundraiser, featuring food, tomorrow morning.

Police Chief Jim Archer tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the department is hosting the inaugural Free-Will Donation Breakfast from the police station garage, 908 Willis Avenue. He says the idea began as an initiative to raise money for the Perry Police Officer’s Association, who are in charge of the annual Shop With A Cop event and providing meals for families around the holiday season.

Archer explains that the police department really hasn’t held an event in their garage, but he thought it would be an inviting spot for families to interact with the officers. He is anticipating seeing many residents attend.

“We’re looking forward to being able to meet with our citizens and have the kids come out and meet us. And they can look through our squad cars, take a look at our garage, and hopefully have a good interaction with the community. That’s the main purpose is to see our officers and we can provide a service back to them and we can raise funds, so we can continue to do those other projects that we like to do for the community.”

Archer acknowledges the proceeds will go directly to the Perry Police Officer’s Association and the menu will feature pancakes and breakfast burritos from a food truck. The fundraiser is tomorrow from 8-11am.
