The Perry Jayette volleyball team wrapped up its 2025 campaign with a 7–24 record, finishing eighth in the Heart of Iowa Conference.  While the season featured its share of challenges, the Jayettes showed flashes of strong play and capped off the year with several memorable moments — none bigger than their championship sweep at the Perry Jayette Varsity Tournament.

In front of the home crowd, Perry strung together three straight wins over Saydel, Des Moines Hoover, and Des Moines North to take home the tournament title — a season highlight that showcased the team’s growth and chemistry under first-year head coach Tina Lutterman.

Defensively, senior Yami Gonzalez was the backbone of the Jayette back row. The veteran libero led the team with 152 digs, providing leadership and stability in the defensive rotation.  Fellow senior Charity Parnell added 127 digs, rounding out a gritty backcourt effort.

At the net, a pair of underclassmen made their presence felt.  Sophomore Addison Perks led the team with nine blocks, while freshman Kate Schuttler followed closely with eight, giving Perry a promising foundation for future seasons.

The Jayettes will graduate six seniors, leaving behind a group that helped set the tone for a new era of Perry volleyball.  Despite the growing pains of Lutterman’s debut season, the program showed signs of momentum and development — key ingredients for success in the years ahead.

With a mix of experienced returners and rising talent waiting in the wings, the Jayettes are poised to keep building on the progress made in 2025 as they look toward the next chapter.
