As we are in full bore of the fall season, new guidance for the covid vaccine has been released.

Greene County Public Health Director Shelby Cooklin says the federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved and authorized the new covid vaccine for everyone six months and older, as well as at-risk groups of people. She explains what the new guidance is that came from the FDA.

“They’ve made it more into a shared clinical decision-making model, where they really want you to have that conversation with your physician about whether or not the vaccine would be beneficial to you. So, still open to everyone, just you make the decision to go and get the vaccine if you would like it.”

Cooklin adds that at Greene County Public Health, they have several covid vaccines for people, along with programs for those who are under-insured or uninsured, called “Vaccines for Adults” and “Vaccines for Children,” where covid and other vaccines can be given to those individuals for free, if they qualify. Call Public Health at 515-386-3228 to learn more or to schedule an appointment for a covid vaccine.
