Jesse Miller, the 2023 Greene County High School graduate, and University of South Dakota football player, caught a pass on Saturday for his first collegiate touchdown. The Coyotes, or “Yotes, lost at home in Vermillion to Illinois State, 21-13. Miller’s second quarter 11 yard TD catch was the only touchdown on the day for USD, now 5-4 on the season.

For the game, Miller caught three passes for 19 yards. Primarily a blocking tight end, he found himself wide open on the left side of the Dakota Dome end zone on the touchdown play.

Greene County high school graduates playing football on the NCAA Division I level are rare, and having one catch a touchdown pass is even more unique. Miller’s older brother, Tyler, is the starting right tackle for the Iowa State Cyclones.
