From volleyball player one night to State qualifying cross-country runner less than 48 hours later. That’s the story of Greene County High School senior Kaycee Pittman.

Greene County head coach Jeff Lamoureux talked with Raccoon Valley Radio about how that came about. “I had talked to Kaycee about running, knowing she’s a volleyball player, I didn’t put any pressure on her, but I saw what she had done for 800 (meters in track & field) times and thought those could translate into pretty good cross-country times, or it often does, so I asked her to consider it. She’s really busy, and not just with volleyball, but she’s in Cheer, and Competition Cheer, and other things, but she came to a few practices and we talked about it, and she made it happen. I’m just excited!”

Pittman was eleventh in the Oct. 23 Class 2A State Qualifying Meet on the Eagle Grove Golf Course, and the top finishers qualify for the Oct. 31 State race for 2A girls north of Ft. Dodge at 10:30 a.m.
