Three recent Perry High School graduates are continuing their wrestling careers on the collegiate stage this fall.  Julie Maylum, Kain Killmer, and Tristyn Steil will all see their respective teams take the mat for the first time this Saturday as the new season begins.

Killmer, a 2024 Perry graduate, enters his second year at the University of Wisconsin–Platteville.  In his debut season, he was named a National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) 2025 NCAA Division III Scholar All-American—one of just two Pioneers to earn that distinction.  Competing at 197 pounds, Killmer posted a 13-15 record as a freshman and placed seventh at the Upper Midwest Regional.  UW–Platteville will open its season at the Dubuque Invite on Saturday, where Killmer earned a technical fall victory in his match at last year’s event.

Maylum, who graduated from Perry this past spring, now wrestles for Wartburg College.  A record-setting Jayette, Maylum compiled 106 career wins and qualified for the state tournament three times during her high school career.  She joins a Wartburg program that enters the season as the preseason favorite in the American Rivers Conference, according to the coaches’ poll.  The Knights will kick off their campaign at the Pointer Open in Stevens Point, Wisconsin.

Steil enters his sophomore year at Simpson College.  The 2024 Perry graduate went 1-5 in his debut season for the Red Storm.  Simpson opens the year Saturday hosting the Luther Hill Invitational.

The trio of former Perry standouts will look to make an impact early as they begin their new chapters on the college mat.
