Applications for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) are about to be open for all qualified households.

New Opportunities Family Development Coordinator for Guthrie County Rhonda Huggins says that at the beginning of October, LIHEAP applications were opened to those 65 years or older, or that are on disability. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that applications open for all qualified households starting tomorrow, and that she can help with that, and will be making trips to the different towns in Guthrie County.

“If you happen to be in Bagley, Bayard, Jamaica, Panora, or the north side of Stuart, I will be at those towns, mostly in the libraries, but in the case of Stuart, I’ll be in the City Hall chamber and taking LIHEAP applications. So if you are in one of those towns and you’d like to get on my schedule for the day that I’m there, please give our office a call.”

Huggins mentions that if people would like to set up an appointment for when she is in any of the towns, they can call her office at 641-747-3845. She adds that her office is also short-handed, and asks that people remain patient as she works to help them.
