
Despite the Raccoon Valley Radio area seeing over an inch of precipitation this week, portions of the listening area remain in low levels of drought.
According to the US Drought Monitor, the very northwestern corner of Greene County and the southeastern half of Dallas County are abnormally dry. According to the National Weather Service, Jefferson saw 1.25 inches of rain this week, Guthrie Center topped out at 1.20 inches and Perry recorded just over an inch at 1.03 inches.
The National Weather Service reports that all three weather observing communities are well ahead of their monthly averages for precipitation in October, with Perry being the highest with 3.58 inches for the month, compared to the average of 2.61 inches.
